A Song of History

Growing up, I would regularly be found wandering the woods near my Grandmother’s house, with a t-shirt too big for me, wearing a belt on the outside. Swinging a stick at the imagined goblins and such.

It wasn’t until College that I began to explore reenactment. But then, it was larping, with Amtgard as my crucible. From that hobby, I learned to sew, to work leather, and the more I did, the more I wanted to do more.

Past my twenties, I needed something with more historical, and literal weight, and began to join the SCA, where I learned some metalworking. I also became more interested in the history of my SCA Persona. Combined with a love of tales, songs, and anthropology.

Several years worth of chance encounters with the Bjornstad Vikings, and I made the leap to join them. While still new, I enjoy the teaching and historical commitment. I’m currently trying to find some historically accurate songs to learn, in addition to improving my kit, and sharing my joy at this with my son.
