I am a musician, Scottish Games athlete, nurse, and Aviculturist. I have been playing Irish and Scottish music for several years and I am now learning Nordic and Scandinavian music. I have a few early period instruments, a hand drum (that I made) and a small harp. I also play guitar, mandolin, and sing. I have been drawn to the music and culture of the Celtic Nations my whole life. Once I started throwing as an athlete in the Scottish Games, I think my ancestors were calling to me, because it led me to explore my family history. I knew I had Irish and Scottish heritage but when I joined Ancestry, I found out I had Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, and Scandinavian ancestry. I started studying the history of these countries which led me to realize how much the Vikings were a part of their history. This fascinated me. The more I studied about the Vikings, the more interested I became. I wanted to learn more about their culture, which led me to reenactment. Wanting to immerse myself in all things Viking and Celtic because of my ancestry has been fun, and I was really excited when I found the Vikings of Bjornstad website. I joined the group because I want to learn more about Viking culture and history and to help educate others. I would also like to bring music into my Viking experience. I also enjoy raising birds as a hobby. |
