Combined Viking Group Campout - Bjornstad & Sjorvaldar
Purpose:
The Vikings of Bjornstad and Sjorvaldar Vikings will hold a joint two day (48 hour) immersive Viking historical reenactment campout, with period camp equipment and activities over the dates of Friday, May 31, 2024, beginning at 3:00pm through Monday, June 3, 2024, ending
about 1:00pm at a site to be determined.
Location: Activities:
Our intention is to create a Viking campout with authentic tents, furniture and other items in order to provide a picture of what life would be like in Viking times. This would include several activities, such as cold metal working on a Viking anvil, wood carving, wood turning with a wood lathe, practice archery (with blunt tip reenactment arrows, practice combat using Viking weapons (blunted), weaving, musical instrument playing and singing, period games such as hnefntafl and hunkerhouser, in addition to other Viking outdoor activities.
Evening activities would likely include a communal fire (with appropriate safety measures/placement), storytelling, etc.
